During the colonial time of Pennsylvania, they had many ways of surviving. One of the ways was there farming. They farmed wheat and corn mostly. Rye, hemp, and flax were also some of the things they farmed. Mostly the natural resources they had fueled there survival.
Saw and gristmills were the first to show up using the power of many streams. These many streams were also very helpful in the ship-building industry.Later, facilitating trade made Pennsylvania the most important center for foreign trade in the colonies by the time of the Revolution.
For the first piece of land, William Penn paid 20 blankets, 20 kettles, 20 guns, 20 coats, 50 shirts, and a handful of pipes, scissors, shoes, combs, and knives.
