Pennsylvania was founded for more of a free state, more for the religion side. At this time, Quakers all over America were being persicuted. As soon as William founded this land, he made it a free of all religous persicution.William Penn founded this land so that he could create a colony that allowed freedom of religion. He needed the freedom of religion to protect himself and his fellow Quakers from persicution.
One of the famous colonists' that lived in Pennsylvania were the Quakers. The Quakers moved here with there fellow Quaker, William Penn. They moved here for their religious freedom becuase in most places, being apart of the Quaker religion is a crime. Quakers moved to Pennsylvania in 1682 and settled here.
William Penn was also a famous colonist that lived in Pennsylvania. In fact, William Penn was the founder of this land.
Benjamin Franklin, was one of the well known colonists also. Franklin moved from Boston to Pennsylvania in 1723.
